The air is humid and carols are playing on the radio

I know the mature thing is to start thinking Christmas is a little bit old hat. But I can't. I'm an enthusiastic, immature dork for Christmas. I like everything that people my age are supposed to groan about: the carols on the radio. Candlelight singalongs. Nativity plays. Shopping for gifts. Christmas cards in the mail (though apparently these are dreadfully out of fashion). End of year newsletters (also more corny than cool). I love it all, and I'm thankful for the one time of year when it's in style for everyone to sing praise songs to Jesus.

And now I'm in the mood to watch movies that make me all Christmas-happy -- like Elf (pure silliness) and Little Women (not strictly a Christmas movie, but full of holly and jolly and family and tears) and The Nativity. What Christmas movies are your favourite? I definitely want to know.

  1. I don't think it is the mature thing to think Christmas is old hat.:-) At least, I definitely feel quite immature when I get mopey about Christmas--so I think enjoying it is definitely more mature!

Movies...hmm, I guess the only two I really associate with Christmas are "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Home Alone" because I managed to see both pretty much every year. The former with my immediate family, the latter usually being on at my grandparents' with cousins. I like the former, but would be pleased to never see the latter again.

  2. I like "The Muppets Christmas Carol" and "It's A Wonderful Life." I also liked the "Nativity" when I saw it a number of years ago. I know, Christmas time is so exciting, isn't it?

  3. I rather like Christmas Caroling and... well, snowy white christmases with hot drinks and warm, fuzzy socks.

It isn't exactly "christmas" (but sort of!), but I thought the one based on Beatrice Potter's "Tailor of Glouceser" and the little mice was adorable! (evidence, perhaps, of another not-grown-up person, but still... who could resist the little bitty mice! ;) )

Oh also, I wondered if the last Whatsoever went out, not that I'm hassling, I just thought mine might have been lost. So if it hasn't gone out, that's great!!! as it means I still have that to look forward to ....

  6. A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart is my favorite. :-) We always watch Charlie Brown Christmas and Garfield's Christmas and Frosty the Snowman and Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. Or, at least, we did.
